Jamboard

Jamboard is a very useful tool for online lessons. If the teacher needs a white board when he/she is explaining a topic, Jamboard is the way to go. Apart from working as a white board, with Jamboard students can also create posters and work together on them very easily, even when they are not together physically. Moreover, the projects can also be carried out asynchronously and synchronously. Here is an example of a student project created by Jamboard; https://jamboard.google.com/d/1-2IfnZ_SsMljCyVebS3FWFAJxdkw_eqzWPvPHHquXAU/edit?usp=sharing In the student project given as an example, students work in groups and describe the appearance of one person in their group. Even in an online lesson, students can easly create a poster and have an end product of what they practiced. Additionally, they can work together and help each other in choosing the correct words for this project.

Peardeck

When teaching any subject, it is important for the lesson to be student centered. Student centered lessons encourage student participation and thus, make the learning process more effective. Nevertheless, sometimes teachers has to explain a topic and in such situations, the lesson can be more teacher centered. The main problem with teacher centered lessons is that the students may get bored and stop paying attention. This would result in them not acquiring the given information and it would damage the purpose of the lesson in the first place. In order to keep the students engaged in the lesson, using some additional tools such as peardeck can be crucial for the effectiveness of the lesson.  Peardeck is a tool that can be used to make the lesson more interactive for the students. In the lesson, the students can interact with the presentation and thus, participate in the lesson when the teacher is explaining a topic. An interactive lesson prepeared with peardeck would make the learning

The way to success in distant education

Resim
For the learning process to be effective, it is very important for the learners to pay attention and engage in the learning of the presented information. Therefore, especially in distant education, presence of the learners is very important. In order to make sure that everyone is present, teachers can benefit from certain variables such as social presence, teaching presence, transactional presence and cognitive presence. First of all, Teaching Presence is the presence of the teacher. This can be observed in every lesson. The teacher has to be present to transfer the information to his/her students. Second, Social Presence is the sence of togetherness of the learners. Students should not just be attending to a lesson but they should be participating in it. Social Presence can be integrated into the classroom through small activities that engage the students with the lesson. Thirdly, Transactional Presence is feeling connected to others. Students can share their opinion, some information

The Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning

Resim
The cognitive theory of multimedia learning, which is developed by Richard Mayer, suggests that the use of words and graphics help people learn better by forming mental representations. This theory consists of three assumptions; the dual channel, the limited capacity and the active processing assumption. The dual channel assumption claims that the information is processed through two channels; auditory and visual. According to the limited capacity assumption, each of these channels has a limited capacity and the learning should occur through taking few information at once. The active processing assumption claims that learning is filtering, selecting, organizing and integrating information based on previous knowledge. Mayer’s multimedia learning theory combines these three assumptions and explains the process of learning. According to this theory, the information given goes through sensory memory, working memory and long-term. Firstly, sensory memory filters auditory and visual informat
